AFEXKIDZ – Core Story

Afex was not just a planet, it was a functioning system – a gigantic living synthesizer in constant motion. Its surface was built from modules, patch cords, generators, and filtration zones, all connected into a single, continuous flow of signals.

Across the galaxy, Afex was known for its generative melodies and unusual sounds. Not as music or performance, but as a structure too complex to recreate artificially. Inhabitants of other planets journeyed to Afex to immerse themselves in its sound and signal flow.

Afex did not seek attention. It simply worked – a self-sustaining process that gave the system its power.

The planet was inhabited by Kidz – small beings whose existence was inseparable from the system itself. Each Kidz maintained a specific process: frequency stabilization, signal routing, generation, and maintenance of modular chains. Together, they formed the living core of Afex.

Deep within the planet existed the old oscillators – massive foundational structures that defined the behavior of the entire system. Among them was SÖMA, the oldest and most precise oscillator. Unlike the others, his structure allowed separation without collapsing the system.

When a massive object entered Afex’s orbit, destruction became inevitable. The planet could not be protected without destroying itself.

Using the core modules of Afex, the Kidz assembled a mobile continuation of their world. SÖMA was extracted last, as the only oscillator capable of surviving the transfer. This structure became AfexKidz.

After the planet was destroyed, AfexKidz remained the only place where Afex continued to function. In its compact form, the system could no longer generate sound endlessly. Yet without sound, it could not remain stable.

AfexKidz now moves freely through the galaxy. The Kidz maintain the internal processes, while SÖMA operates the external layer – navigation, direction, and interaction with other worlds.

Civilizations respond to the signal themselves and offer modules, components, and technologies in exchange for access to a structure that vanished with the planet.

The old Afex was bound to a single orbit. The new Afex moves without limits. Piece by piece, AfexKidz grows. Not as a restoration of the past, but as the next stage of a free system.

What is Afex?

Afex was a planet-system. It functioned as a gigantic living synthesizer: modules, connections, generators, and resonant structures were assembled into a single continuous signal flow. Its sound could not be recreated artificially – it had to be heard directly.

What is AfexKidz?

AfexKidz is a spacecraft assembled from the remaining modules of Afex.
After the destruction of the planet, it became the only place where Afex technology
continues to operate. The system can no longer sound endlessly, but without sound
it begins to degrade.

What is this site?

AfexKidz is an interactive ship-system. The site is structured as functional sections
of the ship, each containing synthesizers, sequencers, generators, and tools for working
with sound, signals, and structures.

This is not a single instrument or a single format. It is an environment for exploration,
learning, experimentation, and system building.

How do I use the site?

After entering the site, you arrive on board AfexKidz. From there, the structure is simple:

choose a ship section
enter the section
select an instrument
work with sound or signal structures

All tools run directly in the browser. No installation is required.

What sections are available on the ship?

AfexKidz has four main sections:

Seed Forge — synthesis fundamentals, training, and first signals
Echo Playground — rhythm, sequencers, samples, and time structures
Flow Conductor — signal chains, routing, generative and modular systems
Microtone Garden — microtonality, alternative tuning, and harmony

Each section contains its own set of instruments.

Do I need experience with synthesizers?

No. Some instruments are designed for first contact, others for deeper experiments and live performance.
You can simply explore, or dive into the architecture of sound and signal flow.

Who is SÖMA?

SÖMA is the external operator of AfexKidz. He controls what lies beyond the system’s internal processes:
routes, directions, external interactions, and process initiation.

On Afex, SÖMA was the oldest oscillator, responsible for maintaining the integrity of the entire structure.

What is the Guestbook?

The Guestbook is the communication screen of AfexKidz. Here you can leave messages, feedback, or signals.
All entries become part of the system and its ongoing history.

SÖMA manages navigation, route selection, process initiation, and external contacts.
He does not command the Kidz – they are autonomous. He controls what is beyond their reach.
